Michael Zana

Educational Specialist

Michael moved to Santa Cruz in 2011 after completing his undergraduate degree at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, where he studied psychology, literature, philosophy, and visual arts, among many other subjects. Michael is what you might call a generalist, or “jack of all trades”, which means that he is a lifelong learner of many subjects who finds unique connections between seemingly disparate fields. Michael has spent his life learning how to learn, developing a keen awareness of learning processes, self-motivation, and emotional dynamics along the way. Michael is hoping to deepen his therapeutic skill set by pursuing a graduate degree in integral counseling psychology so he can help make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. When he’s not at Steps To Success, Michael is an avid rock climber, adventurer, dancer, painter, pianist, and poet.
